Welcome,

The 'History of British Popular Music' is completely written and researched by Filip Heidinga.

All photos on this website are taken by Filip Heidinga.

On this website I will post an article every week with a part of a biography of a musician, producer or manager. Every musician, band, producer or manager will also have their own page with all the articles about them. If I have photos, or interviewed somebody it will be posted on their own page.

We are going to start this story in 1956, the year the skiffle craze begun in the UK. The short period that skiffle music was popular in England would change the music business for ever. For the first time is was possible to play in a band if you were from a working class background. A washboard, a homemade bass and an acoustic guitar was all you needed for a skiffle band.

After the skiffle craze died out, it was time for Rock 'n' Roll and electric guitars.
